and create awe-inspiring images of the night sky!
Join professionally accredited photographer, Carmen Therriault, for an immersive night sky photography field session, where you’ll learn how to capture the magic of the stars and Milky Way. Set against a scenic, low-light location, this hands-on workshop will guide participants through the fundamentals of astrophotography—including camera settings, composition techniques, and how to focus in the dark. Carmen will share tips on working with long exposures, managing light pollution, and incorporating foreground elements for dramatic, storytelling images.
Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills,
this session is a fantastic opportunity to practice under the stars
with personalized guidance from an experienced night sky photographer.

Techniques you will learn:
camera settings for night shooting
useful apps to plan night shots and locate the Milky Way
focussing at night
using your histogram
creating interesting compositions in the dark
we will learn to photograph the Milky Way, star trails and/or aurora depending on what the night sky conditions are
Equipment you will need:
A DSLR or mirrorless camera that is capable of manual settings
Tripod
Wide-angle lens (preferably with a fast aperture of f2.8 or wider)
Extra batteries
Memory card(s)
A headlamp or flashlight (preferably with a red light mode)
Weather-appropriate clothing & comfortable footwear
A remote shutter release or intervalometer (optional but helpful)
